The National Centre for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Poland invites applications for five PhD positions in the Astrophysics Division ( https://www.ncbj.gov.pl/en/astrophysics-division ). The Astrophysics Division is dedicated to research in astrophysics and astronomy with a focus on observational work. The Division covers a wide range of topics including cosmology, gravitational waves, physics of galaxies and the interstellar medium.
Our PhD topics:
1. Gravitational lensing of the cosmic microwave background in the era of large surveys
2. Linking dust attenuation and radio data
3. Reliably identifying merging galaxies in large surveys
4. Properties of low surface brightness galaxies in the LSST era
5. Low surface brightness galaxies in the LSST era as a Big Data challenge
The webpage with a short description can be found here: https://www.ncbj.gov.pl/en/astrophysics-division/work-with-us Rules and how to apply are listed directly on the webpage of the Doctoral School: https://gradschool.ncbj.gov.pl/
The application deadline is the 5th of August and the starting month is October 2024.
