Brane-world gravity: Progress and problems
Meeting: September 18th-20th 2006
Workshop: September 21st-29th 2006
Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation
University of Portsmouth
United Kingdom
This meeting/workshop aims to bring together experts in the study of gravity in higher-dimensional spacetime to explore distinctive aspects of gravity and cosmological solutions embedded in curved spaces. We will be reviewing recent progress in understanding brane-world gravity, discussing the connection with string theory, and seeking observational tests; as well as exploring outstanding challenges and problems in the field.
Invited speakers include:
Cliff Burgess (Perimeter)
Cedric Deffayet (Paris)
Gary Gibbons (Cambridge, to be confirmed)
Ruth Gregory (Durham)
Panagiota Kanti (Durham)
Fernando Quevedo (Cambridge)
Valery Rubakov (INR, Moscow)
Tetsuya Shiromizu (Tokyo Institute of Technology)
Jiro Soda (Kyoto)
