Bayesian methods in cosmology, Sussex, June 2006

Post by David Parkinson » March 27 2006

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to announce a short conference `Bayesian Methods in Cosmology' which will take place on June 5th/6th at the Conference Centre of the University of Sussex, on campus near Brighton. The meeting will aim to inform about the basis of Bayesian statistics and its applications in cosmology. Subjects covered will include cosmological parameter estimation, model selection and source extraction from data.

Full details, including an on-line registration form, are at the conference WWW page at http://astronomy.sussex.ac.uk/~drp21/bayes/
Advance registration by the May 12th deadline is essential, as we must confirm numbers to the conference centre in advance of the meeting.

There is a conference fee of fifty pounds. This includes lunch on both days, mid-session refreshments, and the conference dinner on Monday night.

Confirmed speakers include Sarah Bridle (UCL), Peter Coles (Nottingham), Martin Hendry (Glasgow), Mike Hobson (Cambridge), Andrew Jaffe (Imperial), Ofer Lahav (UCL), Antony Lewis (Cambridge), Pia Mukherjee (Sussex), Bob Nichol (Portsmouth), Andy Taylor (Edinburgh) and Roberto Trotta (Oxford). There is some very limited space for further contributed talks.

The conference will begin with lunch on the Monday and end around 5pm on Tuesday, so for most participants only one overnight stay will be necessary. Please do aim to arrive in time for lunch on the Monday.

We look forward to seeing you at Sussex.

Organisers: Andrew Liddle
Pia Mukherjee
