CMB workshop at UC Irvine, March 23-25, 2006

Post by Manoj Kaplinghat » October 15 2005

Dear Colleague:
The Center for Cosmology at the University of California, Irvine is hosting a workshop on the Cosmic Microwave Background temperature and polarization anisotropies. The workshop, "Fundamental Physics with the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation", will be held at the Beckman Center, UC Irvine Campus from Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 to Saturday, March 25th, 2006.

The workshop will consist of presentations and discussions on the following topics:
** Current measurements and cosmological parameters
** Small-scale secondary anisotropies
** Sunyaev-Zel'dovich cluster searches
** Current and future polarization observations
** Inflationary gravity waves and B-modes
** Foregrounds, systematics and statistical challenges
** Detector development and associated technologies
** CMB Task Force report

We hope to have a good mix of observers, experimentalists, and theorists. Due to space constraints at the Beckman center, the number of participants has to be limited to 60. If you would like to participate, please visit the conference website http://www.physics.uci.edu/CMB/ to submit registration and presentation requests. The deadline is Feb 1st, 2006.

Updated information regarding the workshop, including the list of confirmed speakers, will be posted at the conference website.

Does anyone know when Moriond is likely to be (assuming there will be a relevant one in 2006)? These dates look potentially close.

Hi Antony,

also a Moriond fan ? Well, the what I found seems preliminary (though the date is plausible) and it would be the

XLIth Rencontres de Moriond (Cosmology)
18-25 Mar 2006 ?, La Thuile (Italy)

However, last time it looked as if the meeting would shift location, maybe that's why there has been no announcment yet.

Cheers, Michael

Unfortunately this seems to be right.. now up at

(CosmoCoffee would be a good place to discuss possible future meeting dates to stop this sort of thing happening...)
