School on Cosmology Tools in Madrid, Spain

Post by Savvas Nesseris » June 18 2013

Dear all,

I am very pleased to announce the first "School on Cosmology tools" to be held at the IFT in Madrid (Spain), from November 12 to 15, 2013.

The aim of the school is to bring young researchers closer to the state-of-the-art tools currently used in Cosmology and as result it is intended for master and fledgling PhD students. The focus will be mainly on the following programs: CosmoMC, CAMB, HEALPix, Recfast, CosmoRec.

The teaching on running and modifying the programs will take place at the local cluster of the Institute, so the students should bring their laptop with them in order to connect via ssh, and will be done by a group of experienced senior researchers (for a list of the Lecturers see below), while the Tutors will help the students solve any practical questions that might arise.

Lecturers:
Jens Chluba, Wenjuang Fang, J.A. Rubiño-Martín, Licia Verde, Gong Bo Zhao

Tutors:
(Albert) Chia-Hsun Chuang, Savvas Nesseris, Claudia Scoccola.

The total number of school attendees will be limited to 25-30 students. The deadline of the registration is August 15th, 2013 and after that, we will make a selection of the students that will be accepted if we have more applicants than available seats. The accepted individuals will be informed soon after that.

More information about the school can be found here:

Best regards,
Savvas

Just a reminder, the deadline for the registration is only 2 weeks away (August 15), so register for the school now!

Also, don't forget to describe briefly your motivation for attending the school and your skills in programming (fill in the abstract box). This will help us choose the applicants that we feel will benefit the most from the school. Successful applicants will be informed soon after that.
