Dark Energy Conference at IPMU, U Tokyo, Japan

Post by Masahiro Takada » March 04 2009

Dear Colleagues,

The Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU)
will host its first international conference entitled "Dark Energy:
Lighting Up the Darkness," from June 22 to 26, 2009. The aim of this
conference is to bring together active researchers working on various
aspects of the dark energy issues from all over the world, and provide
a stimulating environment for exchanging the latest ideas.

The topics that will be covered during the conference include the
theoretical ideas such as vacuum energy, scalar fields, modified
gravity, and back reaction, as well as the observational probes such
as the Cosmic Microwave Background, large-scale structure of the
Universe, supernovae, weak lensing, and galaxy clusters.

The confirmed invited speakers are (in alphabetical order): Hiroaki
Aihara (IPMU), Gary Bernstein (Univ. of Pennsylvania), John Carlstrom
(Univ. of Chicago), Daniel Eisenstein (Univ. of Arizona), Shirley Ho
(LBL), Daniel Kasen (UC Santa Cruz), Joseph Mohr (Univ. of Illinois,
Urbana-Champaign), Shinji Mukohyama (IPMU), Uros Seljak (UC
Berkeley/LBL/Zurich), Suzanne Staggs (Princeton), Paul Steinhardt
(Princeton), David Spergel (Princeton/IPMU), Michael Turner (Univ. of
Chicago), Alexey Vikhlinin (CfA), and Naoki Yasuda (IPMU).

In addition to about 20 invited talks, we will have rooms for
contributed talks and poster presentations. The registrations will be
open on the following website:
