Post by Sarah Bridle » May 19 2008

Monday July 7th, 2008, Cambridge UK: "Emerging publishing models: exploring new ventures for science publishing" organised by the RIOJA (Repository Interface for Overlaid Journal Archives) project.

It would be really great to have your input, from the academic community, on this. We are very grateful for all your input in the questionnaires that many of you answered. This meeting will synthesise the findings of the survey, interviews with journals and publishers and opinions of others in publishing.

More details here and below: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/ls/rioja/meeting

Please do get in contact if you might consider attending,
thanks,
Sarah

RIOJA (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/ls/rioja) has been investigating aspects of repository-overlay journals. The event aims to build on this work and bring together speakers and panellists representing the academic, publishing and library communities, as well as funding bodies, and to address challenges, roles and responsibilities associated with new publishing models.

As well as the main RIOJA findings, topics covered during the programme will include:
• journal-repository interactions,
• new models of peer review,
• content archiving and preservation,
• metrics and the UK's Research Excellence Framework,
• the management, quality assurance and re-use of data in scientific publishing.
