University of Sussex: Research Fellow in Theoretical Astroph

Post by Andrew Liddle » June 23 2007

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in theoretical astrophysics and cosmology. This full-time post will start in October 2007, or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is Fixed Term for 2 years with the possibility of renewal for a further year.

The researcher will work in the area of hydrodynamical simulations of structure formation, with particular emphasis on clusters of galaxies and/or high-redshift galaxy evolution.

Sussex hosts several established experts in the field of clusters: Peter Thomas (simulations), Kathy Romer (cluster surveys, SZ) and Andrew Liddle (cosmology, SZ). We lead XCS which is the most extensive cluster survey programme, and participate in DES which will be the leading dark energy project of its generation and which makes substantial use of clusters. We are a key member of the Virgo Consortium which give us access to major supercomputing facilities across Europe.
