Postdoctoral Research Positions
Laboratoire d'Astrophysique
ECOLE POLYTECHNIQUE FEDERALE DE LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND.

The Laboratory of Astrophysics of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL, Switzerland), located in the same building as the Geneva Observatory, announces the opening of up to 3 postdoctoral research positions in observational cosmology and extragalactic astrophysics.

The successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to carry out independent research. They are also expected to work with Prof. G.
Meylan and Dr. F. Courbin. Preference will be given to candidates with a background either in strong lensing, in the study of quasar host galaxies or in the study of the high-redshift universe. A demonstrated background in integral field spectroscopy will be considered as an advantage. The successful candidates must hold a PhD prior to arrival.

The appointments are for two years with a possible extension for one more year. Stipends depend on the year of Ph.D. thesis and will be in the range CHF 70,000 - 82,000. Additional funds are available for travels to conferences and removal expenses.

The positions are available immediately. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, list of publications, and statement of proposed research programs, via email to the secretary of the laboratory [Log in to view email]. One single pdf file is preferred. They should also arrange for three reference letters to be sent directly to the same email address, before the closing date, which is December 1, 2004.

The EPFL is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
