POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS AT THE BERKELEY CENTER FOR COSMOLOGICAL PHYSICS

The University of California at Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have formed the Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics focused on theoretical and observational cosmology under the direction of Professor George Smoot. Current exciting areas of research include Dark Energy and Dark Matter, CMB, structure formation, and extra dimensions.

The Center invites applications for two Postdoctoral Fellows, to begin in the fall of 2007. We are searching for outstanding junior researchers who will interact with members of our theory group and visitors, with the Center for Theoretical Physics, with the Theoretical Astrophysics Center, and with the Physics and Astronomy Departments. While we encourage applicants in all areas of cosmology theory and observation, particular attention will be given to researchers investigating astrophysical probes of fundamental physics.

These fellowships will be awarded with initial two year appointments that can be extended for an additional three years. In addition to a competitive salary, the position includes ample funds for travel and other research expenses. Candidates should have obtained a Ph.D. in astrophysics or a related field after December 31, 2003.

Required application materials include a CV, bibliography, and statement of research interests and plans. Please submit applications electronically at [Log in to view email]. The applicant's full name should be included in the subject line of the email containing the letter of reference. UC Berkeley's Statement of Confidentiality can be found at http://apo.chance.berkeley.edu/evalltr.html

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer; women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
