Swiss Ambizione Fellowships hosted at University of Zurich

Post by Julian Adamek » September 19 2022

The Institute for Computational Science (ICS) at the University of Zurich seeks to attract future grantees of Ambizione grants (funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation). https://jobs.uzh.ch/offene-stellen/independent-postdoctoral-fellow-researcher/0a04d926-0071-4473-90d4-27575ee82639

Your responsibilities
You should bring a concrete project idea as well as a short project description (at most 3 pages). Above all, you should bring an inspiring, exciting research idea!

Your profile
Your profile should match the eligibility criteria of the Ambizione funding scheme, and your academic record should clearly indicate a promising future in research. We are looking for researchers from a broad range of exciting science disciplines, such as Computational Science, Data Science, Big Data, High Performance Computing, Earth Observation, Machine learning, Astrophysics, Cosmology, Planetary Science, and Astrobiology.

What we offer
The University of Zurich has a world-class scientific computing infrastructure that includes dedicated access to the tier-0 facilities of the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre in Lugano. We also have our own GPU high-performance cluster to allow for very large-scale machine learning experiments. We offer a diverse, open-minded, very international environment.
ICS members are heavily involved, with leading roles, in large national and international projects (e.g., NCCR PlanetS, Euclid, LISA Consortium, Einstein Telescope, SKA) and several groups in applied mathematics, statistics, data science and computer-based visualization are co-affiliated with the institute. Once your application is endorsed by the ICS, we will provide feedback concerning proposal writing to help make it a success. Additionally, further funding opportunities for smaller scale expenses exist inside UZH, the Faculty of Science, and the ICS. The applicant is also invited to collaborate with PhD students and PostDocs at ICS.

Place of work
Winterthurerstrasse 190, Zürich, Switzerland

Start of employment
Grant applicants who are interested in carrying out their project as an independent fellow at the ICS are encouraged to reach out to us via email (including CV and short project description) to [Log in to view email] as soon as possible, at the latest by 1 October 2022. An internal selection process will follow, which will involve an interview of the top-tier candidates.
