Postdoc positions at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research

Post by rishi khatri » October 27 2021

The Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics (CAP) group of the Department of Theoretical Physics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai, India, invites applications for multiple postdoctoral positions in the areas of cosmology, astrophysics and astroparticle physics.

Appointments are for up to a maximum of three years, subject to a performance-based annual renewal. In addition to the salary, successful candidates are entitled to medical benefits and the possibility of on-campus housing or house-rent-allowance. Candidates must have submitted their PhD thesis before the expected joining date of 1 September 2022.

Candidates with more than one year of postdoctoral experience and with exceptional academic records will be considered for the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Postdoctoral Fellowship.

CAP faculty members (Basudeb Dasgupta, Rishi Khatri, Girish Kulkarni and Subhabrata Majumdar) work on diverse areas of astroparticle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology, such as neutrino astrophysics, particle cosmology, dark matter physics, cosmological simulations, reionization, 21 cm cosmology, cosmic microwave background anisotropies and spectral distortions, large scale structure, clusters of galaxies, distribution of dark matter in the Milky Way, and cosmological surveys.

In addition to the department resources, postdocs selected in the CAP group will have access to funds for research and travel through Max Planck Partner Groups.

TIFR is in the process of becoming a member of LSST/Rubin Observatory, and postdocs in the CAP group will have the opportunity of becoming a member of and contributing to the LSST/Rubin Observatory. CAP group members will have full access to LSST data.

CAP postdocs also have an opportunity to collaborate with other members of the department of theoretical physics as well as members of other departments of TIFR, such as the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences, and the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics.

Application deadline is 15 November 2021. Applications would remain open until all positions are filled. Applicants need to apply via Academic Jobs Online (AJO), with a covering letter, CV, list of publications, a statement of research interests, and three reference letters, on https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/20102.
