2 Post Doctoral Positions in Observational Cosmology

Applications are invited for two full time postdoctoral positions in cosmology and instrumental astrophysics funded by the ERC Starting Grant USNAC and the CNRS/IN2P3 and hosted by the Laboratoire de Physique de Clermont (LPC, a CNRS/IN2P3 laboratory). The Cosmology group at LPC is actively involved with LSST/DESC, SNfactory and ZTF. The first position will be dedicated to Supernova cosmology science within LSST/DESC with a primary focus on light curve extraction, and more generally on precision photometry. The second position will be oriented toward Type Ia supernova host dependences and their cosmological consequences ; the successful candidate will join the ERC research team USNAC lead by Dr Mickael Rigault.

Of particular interest are postdoctoral candidates interested by high accuracy measurements of cosmological parameters with knowledge in instrumental and observational aspects (notably photometry). The contract includes all the travel expenses required for the development of the project (meetings, workshops, collaborations, etc.). The successful candidate will have no teaching duties.

Both positions are expected to be for two years. The successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a related field by the start date of the position (flexible, but nominally between Sept. 1st and Nov. 1st, 2018).

To be considered for the position, please send the following application materials as a single PDF to Prof. Emmanuel Gangler and Dr. Mickael Rigault ([Log in to view email], [Log in to view email]) : 1) curriculum vitae, 2) list of publications, and 3) three page summary of previous and current research. Applicants should have three reference letters sent to the same email addresses. Rolling applications will be accepted, and applications will begin to be reviewed April 2nd, 2018.

Application Deadline:
Monday, April 2, 2018
Selection Deadline:
Wednesday, May 2, 2018
