Research Associate in Cosmology at Imperial College

Post by Andrew Jaffe » May 11 2005

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the Imperial College Astrophysics group, beginning 1 August, 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post will be in the broad area of Cosmic Microwave Background Cosmology, and will involve the development of software for the upcoming Planck Surveyor Satellite under the auspices of the London Planck Analysis Center.

A PhD and a strong research background in astrophysics is essential; experience in cosmology in general and the CMB in particular would be an advantage. As the post will involve programming for the Planck pipeline, you will be expected to be able to programme in C++, and will have the opportunity to work with large-scale computing facilities in the UK, US and France.

The appointment will be for two years in the first instance with the possibility of extension. The salary will be in the range of £22,116 - £32,232 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.

A job description and an application form can be obtained from [Log in to view email]).

Completed applications, including a CV, a statement of research interests, a list of publications and the names of 2 referees (who should be asked to send their references to the same address), should be sent to Dr Andrew Jaffe, Department of Physics, Astrophysics Group, Blackett Laboratory, Prince Consort Road, Imperial College London SW7 2AZ.
