The Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics at the University of Oslo is happy to announce a permanent associate professorship in extragalactic astrophysics.

The position is affiliated with the extragalactic astrophysics group. This group was started in 2013 with the employment of associate professor Mark Dijkstra, and has presently two PhD students in addition to Dr. Dijkstra. Present activity is on theoretical studies of formation of galaxies and the reionization of the intergalactic medium. The position is meant to strengthen and/or broaden this new extragalactic astrophysics group. Candidates who can cooperate closely with and complement the present activities of the group are desired. This can be either through theoretical/modelling research or through observational research. Ability and preference for working in teams are highly valued qualities. Applicants are required to outline one or several research projects and show how these are expected to strengthen the scientific activities in the extragalactic astrophysics group.

The application deadline is 1 March, 2015. For further information and electronic application form (which must be used), see http://uio.easycruit.com/vacancy/1295236/64278?iso=no
