This fellowship is for studying for the Ph.D. degree supervised by our new associate professor Mark Dijkstra, who will take up his position in the autumn 2013 (see his personal web page http://www.mpa-garching.mpg.de/~dijkstra/index.html).

The Ph.D. project will be on theoretical studies associated with the formation of (the first) galaxies and black holes in the Universe, especially studying radiative processes and transfer in and around galaxies, to make testable predictions for existing and upcoming observational programs on both ground- and space-based telescopes.

The fellowship is for 4 years, starting before 1st October 2013. The aim is to complete the degree of Ph.D. at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics. The research fellow will spend about 25% of his/her time on teaching or other obligations.

Starting salary: NOK 416 600 per year (increasing at annual intervals).

Applications MUST be sent through the web portal linked to above. Application deadline: 7th March, 2013. Those finishing master degrees in the spring semester 2013 can apply, and later forward exam results etc. when they are ready.
