Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Cosmological Structure Formation

Post by Catherine Heymans » January 13 2010

Hi all,

We are advertising for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work at the Institute for Astronomy (IfA), Royal Observatory Edinburgh. The deadline is 31st Jan.

For more information see: http://tinyurl.com/ydqo4dl

The Fellow will focus their research in the area of cosmological structure formation, particularly testing cosmological models and theories of gravity using new generations of large surveys. Edinburgh is playing a leading role in this subject: we are members of the Pan-STARRS Science Consortium, have P.I. roles in the GAMA and VIPERS redshift surveys and the CFHTLS, and are making major contributions to the planning for next-generation facilities (WFMOS, Euclid).

We are looking for international-quality applicants with a strong background in statistical cosmology and an interest in the analysis and interpretation of large-scale structure observations. The successful applicant will join a broad LSS research team within the IfA, where there is also a strong synergy between work on LSS, on gravitational lensing, and on high-redshift galaxy surveys (especially with Herschel and SCUBA2). The post is available from Oct 1st 2010, with some flexibility on start date in either direction, and is funded for 3 years in the first instance through the IfA's STFC rolling grant.

Please feel free to contact John Peacock (jap_at_roe.ac.uk), or Catherine Heymans (heymans_at_roe.ac.uk) with any questions for more information.

Many thanks,
Catherine
