[astro-ph/0604011] Cosmic Conspiracies

Awesome. Was waiting for this from Douglas. I think now he will become a hot contender for a Templeton.
To everybody out there who is reading this, I think this work will be cited for
generations. A whole new field was created by this paper. I am thinking
Einstein, Feynman...
I think the arXiv would do good, to have a new group: cons-ph

but maybe others feel less enthusiastic

Jochen, maybe you should check the "Dated" field, just under affiliations... :)

Jochen I think this paper is a 1st April hoax ! :-)
The author, Douglas Scott is a nickname for an old american actor, see:

Here's Douglas' site:

The biggest cosmic coincidence is of course that the second author has a name which is an anagram for April Fool. :)

Well the first three posts today have proofen the long known conjecture
that Germans have a better sense of humour than Slowenians, Italians and
the English.

Who is this English person you speak of?!

I think the French and Scottish should allie against Jochen.

Anyway one cool thing about this paper is that I'd never seen \Omega_{\Lambda} and \Omega_{m} as being related by a factor of \pi!
Surely the universe is trying to say something.

Anais.

One can almost forgive those who fell for this, given that it didn't show up until the fourth of April.

In fact, this has led me to turn a skeptical eye on most any paper that has ever appeared on astro-ph in the first week of April, and I've turned up some real knee-slappers:

http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0004096 - How could anyone have failed to see the humor in this one?

http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0504115 - The ISW effect! They actually thought we'd fall for that?!

http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0509301 - I don't know why they waited five months to post it, as it's clearly an April Fool's joke.

Jochen, you fooled at least three people ;-)
