About Cosmomc

Hello,
I am using cosmoMC to produce likelihood from CMB data
but, there are several thing i don't understand about cosmoMC.

1. What kind of data is processed by cosmoMC in order to create chains? is it full sky maps or Cl data?

2. How cosmoMC produce chains from the data above? what is the algorithm?

I really want to know..
