The Evolution of Galaxies through the Neutral Hydrogen Window (Arecibo HI Conference)
February 1-3, 2008
Arecibo Observatory
Puerto Rico

Please visit the conference website at www.naic.edu/~astro/hiconference/ for details.

Summary:
With the Square Kilometre Array planned to begin observations in around a decade and large neutral hydrogen multibeam surveys currently underway at Arecibo, the question of what we can learn about the evolution of galaxies through neutral hydrogen observations is very timely. This conference will bring together observers and theorists to discuss what we are learning about galaxy evolution and cosmology from the current generation of observations, and what prospects lie ahead for the next decade in the pre-SKA era. The intention of the meeting is to engage participants in a dicussion of the most effective strategy and of possible major surveys which would advance the field of extragalactic HI science, with particular emphasis on the exciting prospects for the next 3-10 years with the major U.S. facilities.
