The Royal Observatory Edinburgh announces a joint workshop with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science from 24th to 26th October 2007. The workshop will cover recent advances in observational and theoretical understanding of the cosmos, with some emphasis on Dark Energy, and future instrumentation and prospects.

Further details such as registration, call for papers, and accommodation will shortly be available online on the workshop website. Participation is limited by space constraints. Online registration will open early July, but you may sign up now to be added to the workshop mailing list.

We anticipate about 20 contributed talks, each approximatively 20 minutes long.

On the first evening, participants of the workshop have the opportunity to enjoy a public lecture by Prof. David Spergel (Princeton University) at the National Gallery of Scotland. On the second evening, the social programme starts with a historic tour at Mary King's Close, followed by the conference dinner in the Kings Hall at the George Hotel.
