Theory Postdoc, Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambri

Post by Antony Lewis » October 20 2006

Institute of Astronomy (IoA) has at least one vacancy for a postdoctoral researcher in subject areas covered by the IoA's "Theoretical Astronomy" programme. The programme is broadly defined and incorporates much of the research undertaken by faculty members: C.J. Clarke, A.M. Lewis, M.G. Haehnelt, G.P. Efstathiou, M.J. Rees, S.J. Aarseth and C.A. Tout. The research includes theoretical cosmology work, cosmic microwave background studies, accretion, star formation and evolution. Successful applicants will be expected to pursue independent research within the context of the overall programme and to develop a high degree of interaction with several of the faculty and postdoctoral researchers.

The salary scale will be £25,134 to £32,796 p.a. depending on experience, plus superannuation benefits. Applications including a CV, publications list, research statement and cover sheet PD18 (from http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/personnel/forms/pd18) should be sent to Dr C.J. Clarke, Postdoctoral Recruitment, Institute of Astronomy, Madingley Road, Cambridge, CB3 0HA, UK, to arrive by 31 December 2006.

Applicants should ask three referees to write to the selection committee at the above address by the same date. Enquiries (but not applications) may be sent to: [Log in to view email].
