Two Post-docs in Paris

Post by Jerome Martin » November 16 2005

***********************************************************************
Opening of two postdoctoral positions in Paris at the interface
between theoretical and observational cosmology, gravitation, and high
energy physics phenomenology.
***********************************************************************

Applicants should send their CV and research program before December,
15th, by email to [Log in to view email]. Letters of recommendation should also
be sent by email. If the applicant wishes to apply to only one of the
two positions, he/she should explicitly specify it in the subject of
his/her email. Otherwise, he/she will be tacitly considered for both
positions.

The two detailed announcements follow

***********************************************************************

FIRST POSITION (IAP):
--------------------

Dear Colleague,

We would like to announce the opening of a two-year postdoctoral
position at the interface between theoretical cosmology and high
energy physics phenomenology in the theory group of the IAP (Institut
d'Astrophysique de Paris, University Paris 6).

The theory group in Cosmology at the IAP (www.iap.fr) includes Gilles
Esposito-Farese, Martin Lemoine, Jerome Martin, Patrick Peter, Simon
Prunet, Alain Riazuelo and Jean-Philippe Uzan, as well as Philippe
Brax and Mairi Sakellariadou as "associate researchers". The group is
active in string cosmology, inflation, quintessence, CMB, cosmic rays.

The position will start in the Fall of 2006. The research project of
the candidate should be at the interface between cosmology and
particle physics, preferably with an expertise in numerical
computations.

Applicants should send their CV and research program before December,
15th, by email to [Log in to view email]. Letters of recommendation should
also be sent by email.

For further information, please contact Alain Riazuelo
([Log in to view email]).

Best wishes,

Jerome Martin,
Patrick Peter,
Simon Prunet,
Alain Riazuelo,
Jean-Philippe Uzan

SECOND POSITION (APC/IAP):
-------------------------

Dear Colleague,

We would like to announce the opening of a two-year postdoctoral
position at the interface between theoretical and observational
cosmology, gravitation, and high energy physics phenomenology, shared
between the theory groups of the IAP (Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris)
and APC (Astroparticules et Cosmologie, Paris 7).

The theory group at the IAP (http://www.iap.fr/) includes L. Blanchet, G.
Esposito-Farese, G. Faye, M. Lemoine, J. Martin, P. Peter and J-P. Uzan,
as well as F. Bernardeau, P. Brax and A. Riazuelo as "associate
researchers". The group is active in cosmology (string cosmology,
inflation, quintessence, CMB, cosmic rays) and in gravitational physics
(gravitational waves, post-newtonian formalism, scalar-tensor theories).

The theory group of APC (http://apc-p7.org/APC_CS/index_en.htm) includes
P.Binetruy, C. Deffayet, J-P. Gazeau, T. Hertog, E. Huguet, D. Langlois,
J. Mourad, J. Renaud, D. Semikoz, D. Steer, J. Serreau, G. Sigl, All the
members of this group will move, early in 2006, to the APC building, now
under construction, on the new campus of University Paris 7. The group is
active in cosmology (brane cosmology, inflation), in high energy particle
physics (string theory, susy), in mathematical physics (quantization
methods), astroparticle physics (cosmic rays, neutrinos) and gravitation
(gravitational waves, extensions of GR).

The position will start in the fall of 2006. One year will be
spent in the APC, while the other year will be spent in the IAP
both located in Paris.

The research project of the candidate should be at the interface
between cosmology, gravitation, and particle physics, with the wish to
work in particular on possible large distance modifications of gravity,
its theoretical and/or observational aspects. Along this line of research
the future postdoc will have the opportunity to work with F.Bernadeau,
C.Deffayet, K.Ganga (APC), D.Langlois, G. Esposito-Farese, J.P.Uzan, L.
Van Waerbeke (University of British Columbia, Canada). Travel money will
be available.

Applicants should send their CV and research program as soon as
possible and by email to [Log in to view email]. Letters of recommendation should
also be sent by email. All the material should be received preferably
before december the 15th.

For further information, please contact Cedric Deffayet (or anyone of us).

Best wishes,

Francis Bernardeau ([Log in to view email]),
Cedric Deffayet ([Log in to view email]),
Gilles Esposito-Farese ([Log in to view email]),
Ken Ganga ([Log in to view email]),
David Langlois ([Log in to view email]),
Jean-Philippe Uzan ([Log in to view email]),
Ludovic Van Waerbeke ([Log in to view email]).
