|Research associate/Fellow in Particle Theory
Applications are invited for the above STFC funded post to begin in October 2015, in which candidates will have the opportunity to work with members of both the particle theory and quantum gravity groups. Candidates with research interests in the area of Early Universe Physics and/or Quantum Gravity are encouraged to apply. These can include the nature of Primordial Black Holes and their impact on constraining models of Inflation, the role of non-perturbative field theory in cosmology, the impact of Quantum Gravity in cosmology and searching for evidence of string theory in the cosmic microwave background.
The successful applicant will be expected to have completed or be about to complete a PhD in Physics, Mathematics or a related subject. They will need to have had experience of research into one or more of the areas of Inflation, non-perturbative field theory, quantum gravity or cosmic strings. During the course of the appointment the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with members of the particle theory and/or quantum gravity groups on related topics, as well as to carry out their own independent research. There will be opportunities for the candidate to teach graduate level courses and they will be expected to play a full role in the day to day running of the groups, including organising weekly seminars or running the weekly journal clubs.
This full-time post is available from 1st October 2015 and will be offered on fixed-term contract for a period of 2 years.
