Research Associate / Fellow in Particle Theory

Applications are invited for the above STFC funded post to begin in October 2014, in which candidates will have the opportunity to work with members of both the particle theory and quantum gravity groups. Candidates with research interests in the area of Early and Late Universe Physics are encouraged to apply. In particular we are interested in those working in dark energy, dark matter and modified gravity.

The successful applicant will be expected to have completed or be about to complete a PhD in Physics, Mathematics or a related subject. They will need to have had experience of research into one or more of the three areas of dark energy, dark matter and modified gravity. During the course of the appointment the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with members of the particle theory and/or quantum gravity groups on related topics, as well as to carry out their own independent research. There will be opportunities for the candidate to teach graduate level courses and they will be expected to play a full role in the day to day running of the groups, including organising weekly seminars or running the weekly journal clubs.

Salary: £28132 to £36661 per annum pro-rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
