Postdoctoral position in astroparticle physics at Nottingham

Post by Anne Green » August 01 2011

Applications are invited for the above post based in the Cripps Centre for Astronomy and Particle Theory, which is part of the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham. The successful candidate will work with Dr Anne Green on a Leverhulme Trust funded project ‘Towards unambiguous dark matter detection and characterisation’. This project will use observational and simulation data to probe the distribution of dark matter in the Milky Way, and hence develop new techniques to detect WIMPs and measure their properties using data from direct detection experiments.

Candidates must have (or be shortly due to complete) a PhD in physics, mathematics or a related area and have a strong background in astrophysics and/or particle physics. Experience in the field of galactic dynamics or the theory of dark matter detection experiments is desirable.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Anne Green, email: [Log in to view email]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

For further information, and to apply, please visit http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/jobs/curren ... ef/SCI1038

Closing date: 1st Oct 2011.
