\"The Return of de Sitter\" school+workshop, 28 Fe

Post by Martin Sahlén » January 20 2011

Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to participate in a scientific program on

"The Return of de Sitter",

to be held at Nordita in Stockholm (Sweden), Feb 28 --- March 25, 2011.

Registration at http://www.nordita.org/desitter2011

Our goal is to bring together leading researchers in observational and
theoretical physics focusing on the evidence for dark energy and its
technical natural embedding within the effective field theory
framework and fundamental theories.

The reason for this scientific program is to create a stimulating
atmosphere with plenty of time for discussions and for exploring new
paths to physics beyond the standard models of particle physics and
gravity in a friendly and warm environment.

The preliminary schedule for "The Return of de Sitter" looks as follows:

Feb 28 - March 4:
Pre-school introducing non experts (mainly PhD students and postdocs) to subjects covered during the program, e.g., Field Theory in curved spacetime; massive gravity; cosmology with supernovae; and weak gravitational lensing.

March 7 - 18:
Workshop with presentations by invited speakers + working group activities

March 21-25:
Working group activities

With kind regards,

Ariel Goobar (Stockholm University)
Fawad Hassan (Stockholm University)
Stefan Hofmann (LMU Munich)
