CosmoMC not finding data

Post by Elizabeth Gould » September 11 2015

I am having trouble getting CosmoMC to work. I have a version of the code which I compiled some time ago which works. Since then, an issue had been found with the data installation on the computer systems I am working on which prevented the code from running. That issue had been fixed, but while the previously compiled code works, newer versions of CosmoMC seem to have trouble finding data that older versions do not. The code itself is the same as well as the param file. I have been unable to figure out what the issue is.

The results using the test run for the code that was compiled eariler is:

mpirun has exited due to process rank 0 with PID 3334 on
node compute exiting improperly. There are two reasons this could occur:

1. this process did not call "init" before exiting, but others in
the job did. This can cause a job to hang indefinitely while it waits
for all processes to call "init". By rule, if one process calls "init",
then ALL processes must call "init" prior to termination.

2. this process called "init", but exited without calling "finalize".
By rule, all processes that call "init" MUST call "finalize" prior to
exiting or it will be considered an "abnormal termination"

This may have caused other processes in the application to be
terminated by signals sent by mpirun (as reported here).

Figure out why it can't read the clik file (existence, permissions, etc)

CosmoMC not finding data

Post by Elizabeth Gould » September 14 2015

I have been working with one of the system administrators.

It appears that the program is trying to access an auto-generated file (fort.42) in one of the .clik files which doesn't exist. The exact error displayed is:
Using clik with likelihood file
./data/clik/low_l/bflike/lowl_SMW_70_dx11d_2014_10_03_v5cAp.clik
forrtl: No such file or directory
forrtl: severe (29): file not found, unit 42, file /xfs1/applications/planck−2015-data/plc_2.0/low_l/bflike/lowl_SMW_70_dx11d_2014_10_03_v5cAp.clik/clik/lkl_0/_external/fort.42
We tried altering the permissions, and that did not fix the issue. Only fort.42 does not exist. This is what the folder which it should be in has:
egould@compute:~[tex] ls -l /xfs1/applications/planck-2015-data/plc_2.0/low_l/bflike/lowl_SMW_70_dx11d_2014_10_03_v5c_Ap.clik/clik/lkl_0/_external/

CosmoMC not finding data

Post by Dhiraj Kumar Hazra » January 26 2016

Hello,

I just faced similar problem. What is the version of your ifort ?

I was using 15.0.1 when this problem happened. Reverting back to ifort14 solves the problem. Seems to be some compatibility issue. The file fort.42 should not be there in the clik directory and you have all the low-l files in place. I believe some wrong .fits file open call triggering this issue.

Cheers,
Dhiraj
