GetDist help

Post by jayanti prasad » November 25 2014

In cosmomc, GetDist does a lot of interesting things. I would like to ask, is there any documentation/summary/README for GetDist which can help. In particular, can explain all the columns which are there in the output files like *.margestats I do not know the meaning of 'limit1' and 'limit2'. I get these 'two' for some variables and '>', '<' and 'none' for others.

thanks..

limit1 and limit2 correspond to the limits with percentages give at the top (usually 68% and 95%). "two" means a two-tail limit, "none" means no limit (e.g. posterior does not go near zero at either boundary of its range). The '<' and '>' are used to denote when it is a one tail upper or lower limit.

See the comments in the .ini file for parameters governing exactly how the limits are calculated (credible interval threshold and smoothing parameters for estimating kernel densities for credible intervals). The defaults in batch1/ correspond to what is documented in the Planck 2013 parameter paper.
