Post by Dragan Huterer » December 09 2013

The Department of Physics at the University of Michigan invites applications for a postdoctoral position in theoretical cosmology starting in the Fall of 2014. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Dragan Huterer and other members of the Michigan cosmology group. We are looking for a candidate whose expertise lies in one of the following topics: dark energy, large-scale structure, or cosmic microwave background radiation. The successful candidate is expected to devote about 1/3 of their time toward work on utilizing known and devising novel methods to extract science in the presence of systematic errors from Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI). Familiarity with numerical techniques involving either data analysis or use of N-body simulations is preferred though not required.

The University of Michigan has a very active program in cosmology, spanning the fields of experimental and theoretical cosmology, astrophysics, and particle physics. Michigan is an active member of the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and DESI collaborations. The candidate will be urged to take advantage of this vibrant atmosphere.

The position is initially for one year at a time, renewable for up to three years total. Applications and recommendation letters should be sent to Academic Jobs Online (AJO), https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/3607. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae and a description of research interests, and should arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted. The deadline is January 10, 2014, but applications will be considered until the position is filled. University of Michigan is an equal employment opportunity/affirmative action employer.
