Postdoctoral positions at Johns Hopkins University

Post by Marc Kamionkowski » October 03 2013

The Physics and Astronomy Department at Johns Hopkins University expects to make several postdoc appointments beginning September 2014 in various areas of particle theory, cosmology, and astrophysics. In particular, we invite applications for positions:

-- in the theoretical high energy physics group, and more specifically with Prof. Jared Kaplan;

-- in astrophysics, with Prof. Brice Ménard on analyses of large photometric and/or spectroscopic surveys;

-- in astrophysics, with Prof. Nadia Zakamska on observational and theoretical projects in extragalactic astronomy;

-- and several positions in theoretical physical and early-Universe cosmology and particle astrophysics with Profs. Marc Kamionkowski, Joe Silk, and Alex Szalay.

The successful applicants will work in a vibrant particle theory group (see http://www.pha.jhu.edu/groups/particle-theory) and/or the Center for Astrophysical Sciences (see http://physics-astronomy.jhu.edu/people ... trophysics).

We seek intellectually ambitious candidates with initiative and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Johns Hopkins University is a member of SDSS 3&4, Pan-STARRS, PFS, Euclid and LSST projects. It is the home of the WMAP, CLASS and the HST ACS teams. The department benefits from close interactions with the adjacent Space Telescope Science Institute (see http://www.stsci.edu/institute/) and has a lively group of postdoctoral fellows.

Applications should consist of a CV, list of publications, summary of research interests, and three letters of recommendation, submitted to AcademicJobsOnline, at www.academicjobsonline.org. Applications will be due December 1st, 2013. A Ph.D. in physics or astronomy is required. Johns Hopkins is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer, and welcomes applications from women and members of underrepresented groups.
