Post by Sarah Shandera » October 08 2011

The Center for Theoretical and Observational Cosmology (CTOC) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in cosmology. The successful candidate will work with Prof. Sarah Shandera on research topics related to early universe theory and/or connections with observations.

A position in the Center also offers postdocs the opportunity to collaborate with faculty with diverse research interests, ranging from fundamental aspects of gravity and cosmology to large scale structure observations. Other faculty include S. Alexander, A. Ashtekar, M. Bojowald, N. Brandt, R. Ciardullo, D. Fox, C. Gronwall, Y. Li, P. Meszaros and D. Schneider. In addition, the CTOC is housed within the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos, whose members have broad expertise in theoretical and astro particle physics, gravitation, string theory and quantum gravity, and theoretical and observational cosmology. For more information on the institute, see http://www.gravity.psu.edu.

The initial appointment is for one year, renewable for up to two additional years contingent on performance and availability of funds. The position offers competitive salary, benefits and research allowance.

Applicants should submit a CV, a publication list and a statement of research interests/plans and arrange to have three recommendation letters submitted to Academic Jobs Online https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/1139 by December 25, 2011.

Penn State is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
