Ph.D. Position on CMB and Dark Energy at Heidelberg Universi

Post by Michael Doran » August 15 2006

We have a job opportunity (starting now) for a Ph.D. student in a
joint project between the Institute for Theoretical Physics (Heidelberg),
the Center for Astronomy (Heidelberg)
and the Max-Planck Institute for Astrophysics (Munich).
The joint project is part of the Transregional Collaborative Research Center TRR 33 "The Dark Universe".

The aim of the project is the exploration of the dark universe using the cosmic microwave background.
In particular the impact of dark energy on re-ionization and Sunyaev-Zel'dovich clusters.
In close collaboration with Ph.D. students at the Center for Astronomy and the MPA in Munich,
you would be working amongst other things on the imprint of reionisation on the CMB, models of
dynamical dark energy and comparisons to CMB measurements as expected from Planck.

In order to start the Ph.D., you need to either have a diploma or master in physics.
The completion of the Ph.D. usually takes three years and the salary is at the Bat IIa/2 level.

Institute of Theoretical Physics and the institute,
