Post by Jens Niemeyer » October 31 2023

The Institute for Astrophysics and Geophysics of the University of Göttingen (IAG) offers two postdoctoral positions in cosmology. The appointment is for three years.

The positions (E13 TV-L 100%, 39,8 hours per week) will be offered within the research group on Astrophysical Cosmology led by Prof. Jens Niemeyer. They are available immediately and offer the opportunity to pursue the goal of Habilitation. See https://obp.uni-goettingen.de/en-US/Stellen/StellenDruck/74234 for the official advertisement.

The main research interests of the group lie in cosmological structure formation, axion dark matter, and physics of the very early universe. We are involved in the development of cosmological simulation codes and the HETDEX collaboration.

The applicant is expected to have a Master's degree or equivalent, a PhD degree in physics or astronomy, and a background in one or more of the scientific areas of the research group or closely related fields. Expertise in scientific computing is a plus. Candidates are expected to contribute to the academic life of the IAG through teaching and the supervision of students. They will be involved in international collaborations and will be encouraged to participate in science teams of future astrophysical observing facilities. Teaching duties according to §31 NHG will be required.

The application should include a CV, a list of publications, a brief description of previous research experience and current interests as well as a list of three contacts for letters of recommendation. Please upload your application in one pdf file until 12/01/2023 on the application portal of the university using this link: http://obp.uni-goettingen.de/de-de/OBF/Index/74234.
