Dear Colleagues,
I'd like to draw your attentions to job opportunities at Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU) in Japan:
http://ipmu.jp/
We intend to appoint ~3 postdocs in astrophysics/cosmology this year (a distinguished postdoc position is also available). IPMU is playing a major role in the development of Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC), a wide-field optical imager, and the Prime Focus Spectrograph (PFS) both for the Subaru Telescope to carry out surveys centered on weak lensing, and BAO at z~1. Further opportunities exist in the area of galaxy and QSO evolution with HSC surveys and ongoing programs that utilize current state-of-the-art instruments on Subaru (e.g., MOIRCS, FMOS, SuprimeCam) in extragalactic surveys such as COSMOS and the Subaru-XMM Deep Survey. IPMU is also a full institutional member in SDSS-III with a focus on massive galaxies and QSO/AGN studies using the BOSS survey.
Applicants should include a CV, research statement, publication list, and at least three letters of recommendation. They should be uploaded at http://www.ipmu.jp/job-opportunities . An IPMU representative will be available to provide further information at the January AAS meeting in Seattle. Please indicate by email whether you are attending and would like to meet with this individual.
Please forward this piece of information to your colleagues, postdocs, and students. Also please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
With best regards,
- Masahiro Takada
