Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Theoretical Cosmology (Fixed term), Ref 941
Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Sussex
£29,853 to £35,646 per annum
Full time, Fixed Term for two years from 1 October 2010, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Sussex in the field of theoretical cosmology. Faculty members Mark Hindmarsh, Antony Lewis, Andrew Liddle and David Seery lead our research in this area. We are seeking a talented and creative cosmologist who has demonstrated outstanding intellectual contributions to research at doctoral or post-doctoral level. Applicants should be able to contribute to our diverse research programme, with areas of particular interest including physics of the early Universe, cosmological inflation, constraining cosmological models with data including cosmic microwave background anisotropies, and the nature of dark energy. The candidate will also be expected to assist in the teaching and supervision of students in the group, and there may be opportunities for broader interaction within the Astronomy Centre and Theoretical Particle Physics groups.
Informal enquiries relating to this post may be addressed to Prof. Liddle (a.liddle@sussex.ac.uk).
There is a possibility that this post may be extended, subject to availability of funding.
