PDRA Position in CMB Research

A postdoctoral research associate is required to work as part of the Cosmic Microwave Background research group to start immediately until 31st March 2012. There is a possibility of renewal within the portfolio of an STFC rolling grant for a period of up to 3 years. The University of Manchester is currently involved in a number of world-leading CMB projects including the Planck, QUIET, QUIJOTE and CBASS and is closely involved in the planning of next generation projects. We are looking for a PDRA who is an expert in CMB theory and/or data analysis, but applications based on experience of other aspects of CMB research are also welcome. The post-holder will be based at the University of Manchester and will be expected to perform original research on theoretical aspects of the CMB and/or analyze data from one or more of the projects listed above.
Knowledge of and experience of some aspect of CMB theory and data analysis is essential. Prior connection with the Planck project (or any of the other observational projects) and an interest in theoretical cosmology are desirable.
Starting salary will be in the range 28,983 and 35646 p.a. depending on experience.
