A PhD student position in theoretical cosmology is available in the new cosmology group at the Centre for Cosmology and Particle Physics Phenomenology (CP3-Origins) and the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy (FKF) at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense. We are looking for outstanding young and competitive candidates with a clear potential to excel in the research of theoretical cosmology and early universe models (primordial inflation, modified gravity, CMB physics, string cosmology, etc.)
The prospective candidate will work with Associate Professor Martin S. Sloth, who is the leader of the new cosmology group at CP3-Origins established in connection with the project Universe-Origins: Probing Fundamental Physics with Planck, funded with a Jr. group leader fellowship from the Lundbeck foundation.
CP3-Origins is a centre of excellence recently established by the Danish National Research Foundation, dedicated to the understanding of the origins of bright and dark matter in the universe ( http://cp3-origins.dk/ ). At the moment it contains 13 faculty members and several post-docs and PhD students in the areas of particle physics phenomenology, beyond standard model physics, astroparticle physics, lattice field theory, and cosmology. CP3-Origins offers an extremely dynamical and exciting work environment. We have close collaborations with leading scientists in Europe and the US and the centre is one of the cornerstones of our physics research.
The appointments will be for a term of three or four years at a very competitive salary and are expected to start in the second half of 2012. Interested candidates are required to include in the application at least two letters of recommendation.
