Since I got no reply in the "Understanding cosmology" forum I try it here now. I hope you do not feel bothered by this potentially stupid question, but I need to know a precise answer for my work. Here is the post from "Understanding cosmology" again:
I have a rather simple question which I have never found to be discussed in the usual textbooks: How do inhomogenieties in the baryon density at the time of last scattering manifest themselves in the CMB power spectrum? Can one see from the spectrum whether the baryons are distributed homogeneously or inhomogeneously or is this impossible?
Thanks in advance.
Effect of inhomogeneous baryon density on CMB spectrum
